Upper eyelid surgery alone or combined with a brow lift?
Whether a brow lift or an upper eyelid lift (blepharoplasty) is the better option depends on several factors—such as excess skin, brow position, muscle activity, and the desired overall appearance.
In many cases, both procedures can be effectively combined—for a particularly natural, well-balanced result.
Surgical methods at a glance
Direct eyebrow lift
This technique is particularly suitable for patients with pronounced skin laxity in the brow area—typically associated with more mature skin.
A fine incision is made along the upper border of the brows and is later largely concealed by the brow hairs. Scars are generally discreet. The procedure is performed on an outpatient basis under local anesthesia and takes approximately 30–90 minutes, depending on the extent of the treatment.
Endoscopic or deep “endo-style” forehead/brow lift
With this minimally invasive technique, a few small incisions are made inconspicuously behind the hairline. These incisions are used to loosen the tissue, gently lift the brow and – if necessary – additionally tighten the temple region. The procedure is particularly gentle, leaves no visible scars and allows for a comparatively short healing time.
Comparison of methods
| Method | Incision | Anesthesia | Downtime |
| Direct eyebrow lift | Upper edge of the brows | Local anesthesia | 7-10 days |
| Endo-style forehead/brow lift | Behind the hairline | Twilight sleep/full anesthesia | 10-14 days |

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
Where do scars occur?
With a direct eyebrow lift, the incision is made exactly on the upper edge of the brow. It is largely concealed by the fine hairs and is usually barely visible after healing.
In endoscopic or deep “endo-style” forehead/brow lifts, small incisions are made inconspicuously behind the hairline in the temple area. This placement ensures that scars are not noticeable later in everyday life.
How long does the result last?
Depending on the method and skin type, several years – often significantly longer than with minimally invasive procedures.
Are there alternatives without surgery?
Yes – a minimally invasive treatment can be used for slightly drooping brows to relax the forehead muscles so that the brows rise gently.
This method is minimally invasive, quick to perform and ideal for anyone who wants a subtle, temporary lifting effect without undergoing surgery.
Which method is best suited to the individual case is discussed in detail during a personal consultation.
No – botulinum toxin has been used medically and aesthetically for decades and is considered to be very well tolerated.
